Story Mode was born from a simple observation: reading used to be woven into a child's everyday world, and somewhere along the way, the screens took that space.
Not long ago, reading practice happened everywhere: a cereal box at breakfast, the rules on a board game, a sign in a shop window, a bedtime book. Small reading moments were just part of a day. Today, so much of a child's free time is filled with fresh video, catchy songs, and one trend after another. The little reading reps that used to happen naturally have quietly disappeared.
Story Mode puts a few of them back. Not as a lecture, and not as a chore, but as the small, everyday thing a child does to open the fun back up. Read a short passage, get a real win, and get back to play.
Story Mode is built on two ideas that work together. For parents, it is an honest screen-time tool: you decide when it is time for a reading rep, which apps sit behind it, how much time a round is worth, and the reading level. For kids, it never feels like a lockout. It feels like choices, worlds, and small victories. The structure belongs to the grown-up; the sense of opportunity belongs to the child.
We also believe less can be more. Story Mode is deliberately calm and uncluttered, so a child's own imagination fills the space rather than being crowded out. It is low-pressure by design: short passages, gentle help on tricky words, and encouragement instead of nagging.

Story Mode is made by Story Mode LLC, an independent studio based in Colorado, USA. It is a small, family-driven effort built with real care, by people who wanted to help children fall for reading, quietly and kindly, and to give the grown-ups cheering them on a tool they can trust.
